Let’s talk about the issue of phthalates and why you don’t want them in your candles

In the past few years, researchers have linked phthalates to asthma, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, breast cancer, obesity and type II diabetes, low IQ, neurodevelopmental issues, behavioral issues, autism spectrum disorders, altered reproductive development and male fertility issues.

Phthalates are sneakily put in everything and most people are not aware of the dangers involved.

When I decided to start making scented soy candles I asked myself what do I want in a candle?

Sure I wanted a beautiful fragrance that filled the room, I wanted a vessel with clean lines to compliment my minimalist decor and I wanted labels that were nothing like the boring carbon copy of every other candle company.
But I also dug a bit deeper into what breathing in the fragrance meant from a health perspective.
That’s when I became aware of Phthlates and the dangers of breathing them in.
I wanted to create the best candle on the market that was safe to breathe in, safe for me , safe for my children and grandchildren and safe for my pets.

All 12th Avenue scented soy candles are free of phthalates, free of parabens, free of zinc & iron and are vegan friendly!

I use premium cotton wicks that are considered the best on the market as they are clean burning and reduce soot emissions. Remember to trim your wick between every burn.

12th Avenue Candles may not be the biggest candle company but it has the biggest heart in terms of consideration of health.
Each and every candle is lovingly hand poured by me to my exacting standards.
Anyone who knows me knows that my family ( including my little dog, Bella) are the most important people in my life and I’d never risk them by burning a toxic candle.

We are constantly researching better ways to create the best scented soy candle on the market today so I feel confidant that each candle leaving my studio is going to do its job in a safe healthy way.
XOXO

Louise
